Add this guide to your phone
When you first access this digital guidebook on your phone, you'll notice a prompt to add it to your home screen. We highly recommend doing this. because it makes the guide faster and easier to access. It also makes your guidebook accessible offline
Simply follow the prompt to add an app icon to your phone. Once it’s added to your phone, it behaves just like any other app, but without you needing to download anything or sign in!
This means that when you want to access the guide, you’ll only need to tap the app instead of searching for the link in your inbox - much easier!
Add this guide to your iPhone:
If you have an Apple device, the "Add to Home Screen" option won’t appear for you unless you’re using Safari browser. Don’t worry, this is easy to solve. Just copy the guidebook link (use the share button above and choose "Copy Link") and then paste it into Safari. From there, you can follow the prompts to add the guidebook to your home screen.

Here's a basic list of things you could consider bringing. We know you’ll have your own needs and preferences, but we thought it might be helpful to consider what else to bring - as we know what amenities we already provide!
Personal toiletries
Sunscreen
Ponchos
Personal electronics chargers
Water bottles
Tea Bags / Coffee
Hats
US 2-pin plug adaptors
Any medicines
Check-in & Check-Out
Your check-in time is from 4pm and check out is 10am local time
We can sometimes arrange an early check-in, or late check out, but it is dependant on the cleaning team. If we have guests leaving or arriving that day it will be almost impossible to offer an early check-in or late check-out due to the cleaning team needing the time to prepare for you or those guests. (charges do aply for early check-in or late check-out)
Check-out Process
Before your departure, we’d appreciate if you would take care of the following:
It would be appreciated if you could place one wash load of used towels into the machine and start the washer. Doing so is very helpful to the cleaners and much appreciated by them.
Ensure all domestic electrical appliances, such as percolators, cooker rings and ovens, kettles, toasters, and other similar items, are turned off.
All dirty dishes should be placed in to the dishwasher but it is not necessary to start the dishwashing cycle.
If you wish, you may also leave any opened or partially used non-perishable items (salt, pepper, coffee filters, etc) but again there is no obligation to do so.
All opened or partially used perishable foodstuffs should be bagged and placed into the external trash container.
Any excess trash which will not fit in the external trash container should be double-bagged and left in the garage. It is important that no bagged excess trash is left outside of the property; it must only be left in the trash container or in the garage.
Unless it is trash day, please do not place the external trash container roadside.
Please ensure the safe door is open and unlocked, and any keys are left in the door. If a safe is left locked, there will be a charge deducted from your security deposit to get it unlocked. This charge is beyond our control and is imposed by the specialist locksmiths we have to hire to unlock the safe.
Ensure all doors and windows are closed.
Check all lights are switched off.
Ensure the front door is locked when you leave.
We ask that this be the limit of your assistance in this property. Carrying out all or some of the above tasks greatly assists the cleaning staff in getting the property ready for our next guests.
Also, don't forget to log out of any personal subscription services you may have used on the TVs (e.g. Netflix).
And finally, please make sure you have taken all of your belongings. Whilst we are very happy to send forgotten items on, we know from experience that the postage can be very costly.
We hope you had a wonderful stay and wish you safe travels back home!

Access code Instructions
Please make sure you have received the code before you travel.
Arrival information is sent out 24hrs prior to check-in and avaliable on your guest portal page of our website at the same time. It will only be avaliable if the online check-in form has been completed. If you haven’t received this before setting off, please check th eguest portal to make sure you have completed the online check-in form before contacting us.
To enter the house simply press each digit (once only) corresponding to your personal access code. Please be careful with entering the correct number as if you enter a couple of incorrect values it will then deny access for a couple of minutes.
Note: Please don’t press the center LOCK button after entering your access code as this is used for locking the door when you leave.
Security whilst the property is occupied
The lock automatically locks itself after 30 seconds. This is a security feature to prevent the door from being unintentionally left unlocked, after departure from the property, but also serves to keep the property secure, whilst occupied. To unlock, turn the lever to the left. Slight resistance may be felt when so doing, which is perfectly normal.
Exiting the property
To lock the door after exiting the villa, press the lock button in the middle of the keypad. This will start the ‘whirr’ of the motorized bolt as it moves to the closed position. At this stage it is recommended that you try the door to ensure it is fully locked. If you forget to press the lock button the system will attempt to lock itself automatically after 30 seconds. However, it's always a good idea to remember to press the lock button manually to ensure the property is secure after you exit.
Low Charge or Dead Batteries
If the lock gives a low battery warning when you enter, please call the property manager on (407-279-9962) so that the batteries can be changed, before they become discharged completely. If required there is a backup door lock key in the lockbox. Please secure the key in the lockbox every time you leave the premises.
Paring at the Villa
There is off-road parking on the driveway for 2 medium sized cars. As we have converted the garage into a games room, there is NO PARKING allowed in the garage.
Parking on the grass is strictly prohibited. If you need to park in the street then please park on the opposite side of the road to the villa as there are local restrictions in place.

Description title
The BigDisneyVilla is located on the quiet residential community of Windwood Bay, close to Champions Gate.
There is a Publix supermarket on Lake Wilson Rd near Reunion, with another at the Champions Gate Village and a third towards Loughman. The nearest Walmart Supercenter is at the junction of Old Lake Wilson Rd and US192.
Within the Champions Gate area there are a number of restaurants and eateries including Olive Garden, Miller's Ale House, Chilis, 4 Corners Tavern, Tijuana Flats and Trevi's Italian restaurant. There are also smaller eateries, diners and fast-food restaurants including McDonalds, Panera Bread and a Greek grill. Travel a little further towards highway US27 and you will find a Beef O'Bradys, Cracker Barrel and a pizzeria.
Alternatively, head south towards the intersection between Interstate 4 and highway US27 for the Posner Park shopping complex. Here you will find major stores including JC Penney, Target, Ross and Marshalls in addition to a selection of restaurants, eateries and a tavern.
Welcome pack
We supply a few complimentary essentials to get you started, such as liquid detergent and soap. Please note the villa is self catering so you will need to suply your own once these run out.

Baby / Toddler items in the vila
Baby / Toddler items in the villa
If you are travelling with young ones, then our villa includes the following free to use equipment
2 x Child's travel cots
Child's trainer seat
Child's high chair
Single stroller/pushchair
Cot sheets and blankets
Please let us know if you'd like us to put up the travel cots before you arrive.

Laundry machines
A clothes washer and dryer are provided for your convenience. Their use is free.
The appliances are located in the laundry room which is between the kitchen and the games room.
In the US, most washers are top loaders, which take a much larger load than most front loaders. In most cases items may not come out as clean, compared to a front loader, unless items that are stained have been pre-soaked. Even then complete stain removal may not occur.
For whites, bleach may be used but care should be taken to follow manufacturers’ instructions, or damage may occur. Never use bleach in any mixed colour wash load or towels belonging to the villa.
The dryer operation will be similar to those you are familiar with at home. We ask that you always clean the lint filter between every use. Doing so will reduce the risk of overheating, which can be a fire risk, and will ensure your clothes dry efficiently, without any undue delay.

Coffe Macines
There are several coffee machines in the kitchen.
Keurig Machine
This machine takes K-Cup pods which can be purchased in most grocery stores.
There is also a filter coffee machine. Coffee filters can be purchased in most supermarkets or online such as Amazon.com

Toaster / Kettles / Waffle Makers
There are several toasters, waffle makers and kettles in the kitchen cupboards if needed. Please ensure the toasters and waffle makers are cleaned and returned to the cupboards when finished with.
IMG_6051.JPEG
Dishwasher
We ask that you do not use washing-up liquid in the dishwasher, as this may cause foaming and flooding. Dishwasher powder/tablets can be purchased relatively cheaply in all local supermarkets.
Fridge/Freezer
You shouldn’t need to adjust any settings. If you run into any difficulties (e.g. it's not cooling efficiently) please let us know.
There are some ice cube trays in the freezer which can be used for ice making if required. There are also some blue/pink ice cups in the cupboards which can be put in the freezer and used to keep your drinks cold.
Oven / Cooker
We ask that if you use the oven and there is any food spillage, you wipe it out as best you can, at the time. This small gesture will greatly assist the cleaners who come in after you depart.

Food. Waste Disposal Unit
There is a food waste disposal unit located in the sink on the kitchen island. A small switch above controls the operation.
IMPORTANT: Don't put hard or fibrous materials, such as seeds, corn cobs, bones, egg shells, or flower stems down the garbage disposal. Never put fats, oils, or grease into a garbage disposal.
To safely operate the unit:
Run a steady stream of cool water into the sink before turning on the garbage disposal
Before placing any food waste into the disposal, turn it on first
Gradually feed food waste into the disposal, avoid putting large amounts of food waste all at once as this may slow the grinding process
Once the food waste has been broken down, turn the disposal off and let water run for a few seconds to flush the drain pipe
If in doubt, please just use the normal trash container for disposing of waste..

Office Space
There is a small office desk area in the main lounge which has a lamp, monitor and outlets should you want to work on a laptop.

Florida's Electric System
Florida’s domestic electricity is supplied at 120 volts. You may notice sparks when unplugging items, such as the kettle or toaster. This is perfectly normal in Florida. Occasionally, after heavy thunderstorms, electrical outlets may ‘trip’. If this occurs, please call our property manager on (407) 279-9962.
Don't forget to bring plenty of socket adapters if travelling from outside North America.
Bathroom Plumbing
A lot of Florida’s bathroom plumbing has a smaller bore than that of other countries. As such, it can only cope with human waste and small amounts of toilet tissue. Flushing anything else down a toilet will almost certainly result in a blockage.
Therefore, all diapers/nappies, tampons, and other similar personal sanitary items should be bagged and then disposed of as trash, in the normal manner. If you tend to use large amounts of toilet tissue, please also flush this away in stages.
NOTE: Please only flush locally purchased toilet tissue down the toilet as any from overseas can be much thicker and cause blockages.
A plunger is provided in this property to assist with toilet blockages. The plunger may not necessarily be kept beside any of the toilets; it may be stored in a utility closet, under a bathroom or kitchen sink, or in the garage.
If you cannot clear a blockage, and a plumber is required, it will be necessary for the cost to be recovered from you or your security deposit. The current hourly rate for a plumber in Florida is $115+, so the cost for a plumber to ‘pull up’ a toilet and ‘snake’ a sewage system to clear a blockage, will not be cheap.
Maintenance / Housekeeping
If something is not right when you arrive or any issues arise during your stay, please inform us promptly so we can rectify the problem. We also ask that you inform us of any accidents or damage that occurs so we can act promptly to ensure the home is in good condition for the next guests.

Swimming Pool
Almost all residential pools in Florida operate in a similar manner and require professional maintenance and servicing to keep them safe to use. The pool at this property will be serviced weekly by a pool guy. There is no need for you to be present when this occurs but neither do you need to make yourself absent.
There may be occasions where the pool guy has to add chemicals to the pool to maintain its safe condition. If this is necessary, it will normally put the pool out of commission for 15-30 minutes. If a longer period is necessary, the pool guy will advise you accordingly.
If you have requested pool heat, it will be on and running prior to your arrival.
You may have stayed in previous rental properties that had a solar pool blanket, which you were expected to place over the pool every night. There are no such requirements for our pool, as it uses a liquid pool blanket instead, which is added weekly by the pool guy. Liquid pool blanket works as a very thin chemical layer that floats on the pool surface at all times. It is clear and completely harmless to all bathers.
At certain times of the year (mainly during Fall and into Winter) pools lose water to evaporation. If any gurgling sounds are heard this is normally indicative of the water level dropping too low and allowing air to be drawn in to a pool. If air gets into the pool circulation system the heater will shut off as a self-protection measure, and the pool temperature will start to drop. If this occurs, you are requested to place the hose in the pool and add water until the level is at least halfway up the top row of the tiles around the pool. The heater will restart automatically, once it identifies sufficient water circulation.
LED Lighting
The pool/spa has integrated LED lighting which is controlled by a switch on the wall just inside of the patio doors. Pressing the switch each time will rotate the colours through a set pattern. Please remember to turn the lights off when finished.

Spa (Hot Tub / Jacuzzi)
The villa is equipped with an in-ground integral spa. It is sanitised automatically via the same chlorination system as the pool.
Operation of the spa is via a timer switch on the wall on the pool deck. The pool does not need to be running to use the spa.

Led Lighting
The pool/spa has integrated LED lighting which is controlled by a switch on the wall just inside of the patio doors. Pressing the switch each time will rotate the colours through a set pattern. Please remember to turn the lights off when finished.

Chairs / Tables
There is a table with parasol and chairs outside on the pool deck. Sun loungers are also available for your use.

Games Room
The games room is equipped with a 6ft pool table, air hockey table and foosball table along with sofa seating.
Please make sure all game equipment is left in the games room for our next guests.
Collection Days
In the Windwood Bay community our trash collection day is TUESDAY
Location
Both bins are kept at the side of the house and are clearly stickered with our house number 223.

Instructions
To ensure successful trash collection, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- All trash containers that require emptying must be placed curbside, the night before collection or by 8am on the collection day.
- Do not place them within 3 feet of any other object, such as the mailbox. Wheels / handle should be pointed towards the curb.
Please ensure the string securing the lid of the bin is left unfastened when curbside. This is because the bins are picked up mechanically by the truck and tipped upside down when emptying. There is no human interaction with the bins..

- Trash outside the container will not be collected.
- All loose trash must be bagged before being placed in any trash container.
- Please do not place prohibited items (as shown on the trash container lid) in to the trash container. They may not be taken.
- Do not overfill the trash container to the point where it stops the lid from fully closing. Overfull containers may not be emptied.
- Do not place any loose bags beside or on top of the trash container. If you find you have filled the trash container and need to bag trash, it should be double-bagged and left in the garage until either they can be passed directly to the trash truck, if you are in the property at the time of its arrival, or placed in the containers once they have been emptied. If you will depart before the next trash collection, leave the bags in the garage and inform our property manager on (407)
279-9962, who will arrange for their correct disposal.
- Please ensure the trash containers are placed back in the container enclosure on the same day as collection. Please also ensure the trash container is stored with the lid closed at all times, to stop wildlife entering in search of foodstuffs. If they gain access, they will spread your trash, which can create quite a mess. The grey bin has some cord that can be used to secure the lid against inquisitive wildlife.
- Trash instructions are also displayed on a kitchen cabinet in the villa.
- Our property manager will often put out / take back the trash cans if he is passing by at the time.
- If you have any questions about trash, please call our property manager on (407) 279-9962.

Thermostat
This property is equipped with both air conditioning and heating. The heating option is usually only needed during occasional periods of low outside temperatures in Orlando.
The thermostat unit can be found on the wall on the upstairs landing.
MODE Button
The mode button sets the unit to HEAT, COOL, AUTO, or OFF modes. The button is located on the top right of the display. Press it twice to step to the next mode. If the unit is in OFF and you want to return to the mode you were previously in, touch the OFF indicator on screen.
Switching between Cooling and Heating
The normal default setting is COOL as this will ensure the Air Conditioning mode is running. If you ever need to turn the heating on then first change the mode to HEAT.
Please note that opening and closing either the patio or downstairs bathroom doors whilst in HEAT mode will change the mode back to COOL again.

The temperature may be lowered or raised within those settings by pressing the + or - keys to adjust the temperature up or down.
Please note that the temperature cannot be lowered below 72º F.
Doors / Windows
We also ask that just as you would not leave doors and windows open when using your heating system at home, please apply the same logic to air conditioning. Leaving doors and windows open when the air conditioning is operating will result in overloading the system and cause the cooling effect to be sharply diminished.
Sustained use with doors and/or windows open may cause the system to freeze-up. If freezing-up occurs, it can render the system inoperative for as long as 24 hours, while it defrosts and then tries to reset itself. If the system has been damaged by the freezing-up, repairs will be costly, the cost of which the owner may seek to recover from you.
As a safety measure, the AC / Heating unit will shut down whenever the downstairs patio and/or bathroom doors are opened. The AC will resume once the doors are closed again. However, you will need to manually set the unit back to heating if this option was previously set.

Most of the televisions in the villa are Roku TVs which use a single remote and provide a range of streaming apps for you to watch.
Some of the services will require you to log in using your own account details such as Netflix.
Other services are provided as complimentary, such as:
Peacock (NBC) - various entertainment channels and sports including English Premier League match replays. We provide a pre-paid subscription to this channel

Pluto TV - variety of free streaming channels
Roku Channel - Lots of free tv shows, movies and more

Sound bar controls
The TV in the family room includes a soundbar at the base of the cabinet. There is a separate remote that can be used to adjust the volume from the soundbar and also provides some optional lighting features.

DVD Player
There is also a DVD player in the cabinet below the TV which can be used to play any of the DVDs in the villa. Use the Roku remote control to select the 'DVD Player' option on the home screen and then use the separate DVD remote control to play the discs.

The TV in the Queen Room has a separate Roku unit and uses 2 remote controls; one to control the television and the other to select the required apps on the Roku home page.
The TV should automatically select the Roku home page when turned on, but you can use the 'Source' button to select the correct HDMI channel if not.

There is a wall mounted TV in the Star Wars room than can be pulled out and tilted to face the beds if required. Please return the TV to the flat wall position when not in use.
Quiet Times
We are located in a residential community and, although this is a holiday destination, it's home to many people. As such we ask that you respect their privacy and their right to a peaceful existence! Specifically, between the hours of 10pm and 8am noise should be kept to a minimum.
Parties
Please note that no parties, of any kind, are permitted at the villa at all times.
Breakages
We understand that sometimes accidents happen! Should you break anything please let us know immediately - if it's minor we usually won't charge. If it's a larger issue (e.g. the TV screen!) we would like to agree the cost with you before you leave to avoid any issues later. Thank you!
Smoking / Alcohol Policy
Smoking
This is a smoke-free home. No smoking of any substance, including vaping, is permitted inside the property. Please use an outside area if you wish to smoke.
Alcohol
Under Florida Statute Section 562.111, it is a criminal offence for a person under the age of 21 to possess or consume alcoholic beverages even at home with their parents.
Pets
We love animals but we chose to make this home pet-free due to many people being allergic.
Hazardous Materials
Please do not bring any hazadous materials to the villa, such as fireams / fireworks etc.

You are welcome to hire your own gas BBQ for outside use on the pool deck. Please note that coal BBQ's are not permitted.
IMPORTANT - Please ensure the BBQ and gas cylinder are placed on a protective mat as they will otherwise stain or damage the pool deck paint. Any damage caused by BBQ's or gas cylinders will be deducted from the security deposit.
When using a gas BBQ on the villa's pool deck, prioritise safety and follow these guidelines: maintain a safe distance from the pool and any flammable materials, ensure the BBQ is on a stable, level surface, and never leave it unattended. Always have a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water nearby.
Detailed Safety Rules:
Distance from the Pool:
Maintain a safe distance from the pool to prevent accidental falls into the water, especially when the area is wet.
Distance from Flammables:
Keep the BBQ away from any flammable materials such as dry leaves, furniture, or overhanging structures like trees or umbrellas.
Stable Surface:
Ensure the BBQ is placed on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping. Avoid placing it on unstable decking or grass.
Never Leave Unattended:
A responsible adult should always supervise the BBQ while it's in use.
Fire Extinguisher:
Have a fire extinguisher or a bucket of water nearby in case of any flare-ups or accidents.
Cooling Down:
Allow the BBQ to cool down completely before moving or handling it.
Gas Cylinder Safety:
When using a gas BBQ, ensure the gas cylinder is stored and handled safely, away from heat sources.
Consider Neighbors:
Be mindful of neighbors and avoid excessive smoke or odors.
Check Local Regulations:
Familiarise yourself with local regulations regarding BBQ use, especially in outdoor areas.
What to do in an Emergency
To call Emergency Services (Fire/Police/Ambulance) dial ‘911’ from any mobile or landline phone
An emergency is any situation that requires immediate assistance from the police, fire department or ambulance. Examples include:
A fire
A crime, especially if in progress
A car crash, especially if someone is injured
A medical emergency, such as someone who is unconscious, gasping for air or not breathing, experiencing an allergic reaction, having chest pain, having uncontrollable bleeding, or any other symptoms that require immediate medical attention.
Important: If you’re not sure whether the situation is a true emergency, officials recommend calling 911 and letting the call-taker determine whether you need emergency help.
When you call 911, be prepared to answer the 911 operator’s questions, which may include:
The location of the emergency, including the street address (223 Willow View Drive, Davenport, FL 33896)
The phone number you are calling from (the villa number is 863-226-2669)
The nature of the emergency
Details about the emergency, such as a physical description of a person who may have committed a crime, a description of any fire that may be burning, or a description of injuries or symptoms being experienced by a person having a medical emergency
Remember, the 911 operator’s questions are important to get the right kind of help to you quickly.
Be prepared to follow any instructions the 911 operator gives you. Many 911 centers can tell you exactly what to do to help in an emergency until help arrives, such as providing step-by-step instructions to aid someone who is choking or needs first aid or CPR.
Finally, do not hang up until the 911 operator instructs you to.
If you dial 911 by mistake, or if a child in your home dials 911 when no emergency exists, do not hang up. Doing so could make the 911 operator think that an emergency exists, and possibly send responders to your location. Instead, simply explain to the 911 operator why the call was made.
Fire Extinguishers
The villa has two main extinguishers located in the following places:
In the kitchen, on the wall between the fridge and pantry door
In the upstairs landing, on the wall to the left of the master bedroom doors
An additional extinguisher can be found just inside the upstairs landing closet where the towels are kept.

Window and Back Door Alarms
All rear windows and doors facing the pool deck have child safety alarms fitted. These will activate with a high pitch sound should someone attempt to open the windows or doors whilst they are switched on.
These alarms are there should you require them and are usually switched off when you arrive. If you would like to use them then please move the black switch on each one to the ‘on’ position.
alarm.jpg
These alarms will be found on all rear windows, the patio doors and the pool bathroom.
Should an alarm sound, it can be deactivated by switching to the ‘off’ position or by simply closing the relevant window or door.
The patio door windows contain some black silhouette stickers to help avoid young children from accidently running into them.
Please also note that when you arrive there may be a security bar across the right hand side patio door. This also helps prevent young children from opening doors when unsupervised.
This simply lift up and folds down

There is a wall safe in the walk in closet in the Master Bedroom for your personal use. The key should be in the lock. Please advise us if the key is missing.
Please also ensure that the key is left in the lock upon your departure.
Description title
There are some basic rules to using the pool, which we would ask you to adhere to for everyone's safety and comfort:
Never swim alone.
Always supervise children. They should never be left alone on the deck or in the pool.
Never swim if you are under the influence of drink or drugs that can cause drowsiness.
Please use only plastic ware on the pool deck. Glass on pool decks is prohibited under Florida Department of Health Legislation (Chapter 64E-009).
Diving is forbidden, as the pool is only 3’ - 5’ deep at any point.
No running on the pool deck.
Consider your neighbours by keeping noise levels down, particularly between 10pm and 8am.
Do not tamper with any pool equipment. Doing so may render the pool unsafe and unusable.
There are inherent hazards to using any spa. Florida Department of Health mandates the following information be provided to all potential spa users:
Maximum legal water temperature is 104º F.
Pregnant women, small children, anyone with health problems, and anyone using alcohol, narcotics or drugs that cause drowsiness, should not use a spa without first consulting a doctor.
Children under twelve must have adult supervision.
Children under five should not use the hot tub.
Use should be limited to no more than 15 minutes in any one hour. (The reason for this is that most of the spa's bromine sanitizer will be consumed within this period. Continuing to use a spa without adequate sanitizer leaves the user at risk of contracting many water-borne illnesses.)
Prolonged exposure may result in nausea, dizziness, or fainting.
Spas should not be used by lone bathers.
If you have any questions about the pool or spa, please contact our property manager on 407-279-9962.

Charging of Electric Vehicles is Strictly Forbidden
Guests are not permitted to charge their electric vehicles using the electricity supply at The BigDisneyVilla. In addition to the potential health and safety and security issues of having open windows with trailing leads, none of the sockets at the villa have been certified as safe to use to charge a vehicle, even with the use of a ‘Granny charger’. This practice carries significant risk of fire and/or damage to our property or your vehicle. Our insurance policy excludes cover relating to this practice and you would be strictly liable for any damage caused. Guests are responsible for finding electric car charging points for general public use nearby.
One location we can recommend for charging your EV is Wawa at 8103 Lake Wilson Road, 33896 which has 12 EV charging points.
CCTV information
You will notice that there are cameras installed at various outside locations around the property. Their purpose is purely for security of the house, its perimeter and the outside equipment. No cameras are sited inside the property or on the pool deck, so your privacy is assured at all times.

Creepie Crawlies
‘Creepy crawlies’ are a (fun) fact of life in Florida, as are many species of reptile and vermin.
Florida’s wildlife and insect populations are abundant, however, most avoid contact with man and you will never know they are there, or were. The first reaction of nearly all Florida’s wildlife is to flee, be they snakes, alligators or insects. Those that don’t, do so mostly out of ignorance that you are there, or because they have been offered food and have lost their fear of man. For this reason, it is illegal under Florida Statutes Chapter 379.412 to feed any wildlife.
This house is professionally treated every 90 days against pest ingress, but no chemical pest barrier is 100% guaranteed. Aside from finding their way in under doors or through the smallest openings, insects can also be brought in by guests via clothing, luggage, and shopping bags.
The most common insects seen inside are roaches and ants. Although some people find insects unpleasant, the presence of one or two is not considered an emergency.
If you see a roach in the house, do not be alarmed. Roaches are one of the most resilient species on the planet and very difficult to keep out. Roaches are most active when the temperature is greater than 70°F, with easy access to food and water, so they thrive in Florida, particularly in homes where open food or unwashed crockery is left exposed for any length of time. For this reason, food should be disposed of promptly in the trash can outside or placed in sealed containers in the fridge/freezer, and used dishes should be rinsed of food particles and placed in the dishwasher without undue delay.
If any roach you see is on its back, then it is dying, and the pest barrier has done its job. All that is required is to pick it up with a tissue or toilet paper and flush both down a toilet. If it is not on its back it will disappear quickly, as roaches are generally nocturnal and will flee as soon as exposed to light.
Please inform our pest control service on (863) 424-5371 if any live roaches are spotted, as it may signify the beginning of a roach problem.
In the case of ants, any sightings inside should be reported.
